I am a native North Carolinian from Belmont, NC (near Charlotte). I grew up in a small textile town, attended South Point High School and worked in grocery stores, heavy construction, food services and textiles through high school and college. I attended Appalachian State University, graduating with both BA and MA. I was very active in public service prior to going into real estate with Beverly-Hanks & Associates.

Prior to joining Beverly-Hanks & Associates in January of 1995, I was engaged in public service and continue to contribute and participate in a wide range of community activities:

  • Advantage West (WNC Economic Development Commission) Board of Directors 1st Vice Chair
  • - Current Member
  • Asheville Board of Realtors - Elected Board of Directors
  • Service on the Finance Committee for the Asheville Board of Realtors
  • Chair - Neal Hank's Sr. Community Fund (Community Support Organization)
  • Serves as member of the Council of Real Estate Investor's Association-Public Policy Committee
  • Active with the Council of Independent Business Owners  (CIBO) of Asheville
  • VeloSports Men's Racing - Asheville Cycling Team

My favorite thing to do in my free time is to ride and train in the mountains on a bicycle. YES, the kind you pedal! I take regular road rides for fun and workouts... and occasionally mountain bikes. In the past I have competed in mountain bike races, primarily the Cane Creek Series in Western North Carolina, but now enjoy and am focused on racing time trail events, road races and criteriums... but still look for the challenges of 50k, 100k or greater bike races sponsored by Charity Organizations or Community Groups.

I have competed in the Assault on Mt. Mitchell twice, which is considered one of my greatest achievements to date for endurance biking; 105+ miles, 12,000 feet of climb and in 7 hours... from downtown Spartanburg to the top of the highest peak east of the Rockies... Mt.Mitchell State Park, off of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

I love the outdoors, e.g., camping, hiking, and visiting unique places.  I make annual journeys to the Outer Banks where I find the entire beach setting one of the most perfect places to rest and play.  I enjoy either playing or attending sporting events, primarily football (Go Appalachian State Mountaineers!), basketball and baseball.

I am also an avid reader of mostly non-fiction, history, political, and biography. I consider Clancy, Ludlum and Forsyth great fictional reading.

I am recognized at Beverly-Hanks as a "Diamond" producer with annual sales in the $8 to 11  million range.

I believe in treating a client as a professional and a friend.  I strive to see and know my clients' wants and needs through their eyes so I might better focus on helping them accomplish their goals, whether it is selling or buying a home.
